Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis by Timothy Egan
A Community Read book give-away and book discussions at the MMA and at Muskegon area and North Ottawa County library branches will kick off a series of programs related to the MMA’s upcoming exhibition Edward S. Curtis: The North American Indian.
Book Give Away
Starting March 1, the MMA will give away 100 free copies of the book Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis by Pulitzer Prize winning writer Timothy Egan to MMA members. Members can pick up a book at the MMA gift store by showing their membership card or by renewing membership or signing-up for a new membership. Books will be given away first-come, first-served, while supplies last, one per household. The MMA has also provided Muskegon and North Ottawa library branches with free copies to give away as part of the Community Read. Check with your favorite library and ask about a free book.
Book Discussion at the Muskegon Museum of Art

Join MMA Curator of Education Cathy Mott and MMA docent Pat Wade to discuss Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher. Discuss the people that influenced Curtis and some of the territories he explored. Questions presented to the group will give a greater understanding of Curtis, his work, and his life. For more information, call the MMA education department at 231.720.2587.
