Workshop with Wendy Withrow
Box with a Pull Drawer
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location Muskegon Community College Art Building
$40 members/$50 non-members
For a fun alternative to the lidded box, this workshop will focus on a box that opens with a sliding, pull out drawer. Employing binder's board to build the box from scratch and using decorative cloth and paper to cover it, participants will leave with a finished box and enough information to make one on their own. Beginning students will have fun learning the basics of box making and experienced students will learn a structure that can be applied to other types of boxes. Open to the public. Bring your lunch. To register, contact Lee Ann Frame at 231 865 6333 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by March 9.
Instructor: Wendy Withrow has a BFA in Ceramics from Grand Valley State University and a diploma in Bookbinding from the North Bennet Street School in Boston. She studied bookbinding so she could hone her hand skills and build a career making fine handcrafted items. Her training was further enhanced with instruction at the Northeast Document Conservation Center and at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she worked as an intern. She began Windy Weather Bindery in 2008 and now runs it out of her home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She specializes in custom boxes, portfolios, and albums.
