89th Michigan Regional Exhibition Opens September 28

The Muskegon Museum of Art’s 89th Michigan Regional Exhibition opens Thursday, September 28 at 10:00 am. The annual juried show showcases some of the best contemporary art being created by Michigan artists and will include 156 works from 145 artists this year. More…


The Muskegon Museum of Art exhibition galleries will be closed September 11-18 for reinstallation following the closing of the Curtis North American Indian exhibition. The MMA Store remains open for regular hours during this time.

The permanent collection galleries will reopen September 19. The 89th Michigan Regional Exhibition will open Thursday, September 28.

Edward Curtis North American Indian Exhibition Draws Record Visitor Numbers

The Muskegon Museum of Art’s exhibition Edward S. Curtis: The North American Indian has drawn over 30,000 visitors from 47 states across the U.S., District of Columbia, and from 27 other countries in the since its May 11 opening. Attendance numbers are the largest of any exhibition held at the MMA. We thank all our neighbors from the area close to us and to the guests who included the Curtis exhibition and the MMA in their travel plans. It has been our honor and pleasure. More…


Open Tuesdays through Saturdays 10:00am to 5:00pm, Thursdays 10:00am to 8:00pm, and Sundays noon to 5:00 pm. Closed Mondays.  (The Museum will be closed September 11-18, 2017, for exhibition turnaround.)

Muskegon Museum of Art Executive Director Judith Hayner has announced plans to retire later this year, in the fall, after 14 years in the top leadership position at the MMA. The Museum Board and staff will host a public reception celebrating Director Hayner on Thursday, September 21, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.
