Regional Exhibition Art Entry
The 89th Annual Regional Exhibition will run September 28 through November 8, 2017.
This change to a fall schedule determines a different artwork entry time frame. Entry is now open for digital submissions at the www.callforentry.org (CaFÉ) website. Free registration at the CaFÉ website is required. The entry deadline is July 29, 2017. Over $6,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to artists.
Entry is open to professional and amateur artists 18 years and older. Artists may submit up to two images per artwork, for a total of four images. Artists may submit images for one to two artworks only.
The MMA’s Regional Exhibition continues a rich legacy of showcasing work by Michigan artists. A competitive show, the Regional presents a contemporary summary of the issues, themes, and media inspiring today’s artists. Featured media will include painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewelry, and installation. A visitor favorite, the Regional engages, challenges, and inspires conversation.
This year’s juror is independent curator, writer, and artist Petra Fallaux. She is the former director of the Hewlett Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University, where she oversaw eight to fourteen exhibitions a year that included multi-disciplinary shows in the visual and performing arts and various sciences. Fallaux was the founding director of the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University, which serves as the University’s primary contemporary art gallery. Today, she works as an independent writer, curator, juror, teacher, grant panelist, and artist. She has curated or juried exhibitions of not only traditional media, but new media including textiles, film, architecture, industrial design, holograms, and digital. A teacher, Fallaux specializes in film and film editing, dyeing and screen printing, and arts management and administration.
